Happy Holidays from Majestic Lawn Care and Landscape

December 9, 2019 |

Happy Holidays from all of us at Majestic Lawn Care and Landscape. We’re so very thankful for the gift of wonderful, loyal clients like you.

The holiday season will be starting in Rockland County, NY, and Bergen County, NJ with Hanukkah on Sunday, December 22 this year and ending on December 30. Christmas falls in the middle of the Festival of Lights on December 25, and the holiday season ends with New Year’s Day.

You can still enjoy your outdoor living spaces from the warmth of your home. Our precise landscape and hardscape designs provide focal points to observe from inside your home as well as outside during the summer season.

Take a moment to enjoy looking at your outdoor living spaces including the fountains, pool area, and the plantscapes that add color, texture, and life to your outdoor spaces.

Continue to use your outdoor lighting to provide safety for all of your friends and family visiting over the holidays. But don’t stop there. Light up your backyard, too, illuminating your trees, pool, pond, and other treasured areas.

You can decorate your outdoor rooms just like you decorate the inside of your home. Wrap lights around your evergreens, and hang a big red ribbon or wreath above the hearth on your outdoor fireplace.

You can celebrate the Festival of Lights with a blue and white wreath hung outside or with blue lights brightening your favorite pines.

Don’t forget your feathered friends when you decorate outside. You can make homemade suet with pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed. Hang them up on your favorite trees or trees closest to your windows.

Decorating with strings of cranberries and popcorn is another way to feed winter birds. And don’t forget the carrots for your snowmen’s noses!

Recycling Your Christmas Tree

At Majestic Lawn Care and Landscape, we recycle our customers’ used Christmas trees. You only need to remove all lights and decorations. We’ll put your tree through our chipper so the tree’s shavings can be used again.

You can also put your Christmas tree in your koi pond. The koi will hide in the boughs of the tree to protect them from predators. Here are some other ways to recycle your Christmas tree this year:

  1. Check to see if Rockland County or Bergen County municipalities provide curbside pickup. Again, remember to make sure all lights, ornaments, and tinsel are removed before putting your tree out for pickup.
  2. Drop your Christmas tree off at your local recycling center.
  3. Your holiday tree makes excellent mulch. If you or your neighbor own a chipper (or you can rent one), you can put your tree through it and keep the mulch for next spring.

  1. You can place your Christmas tree outside or put it in a stand for birds to use. Create pinecone suet and cranberry/popcorn chains to add color and attract birds to your tree. Your birds will love the protective cover.
  2. If you purchased a ball and burlap tree for Christmas this year, plant it as soon as you can. Make sure that you have a hole big enough for your tree’s roots to expand, and don’t forget to water it after you planted it.

Conversely, you can keep your ball and burlap holiday tree in your garage until you can plant it. Just keep it watered, so it doesn’t dry out.
